Bobby Boyd arrived in New York after completing his schooling in Augusta, Ga. His musical adventures began when he signed with Bang Records (a subsidiary of United Artist Record Company). Soon moving to Veep Records who had a positive impact in Bobby's career. Having international appeal Bobby took his career abroad signing with A&Z Records, distributed by Sono Press throughout Europe.
European tours were a big part of his career having spent four years in Paris, France. While living in Paris he was joined by other touring American artists such as the Ohio Players, Lionel Richie and the Commodores, Chaka Khan, and more. He was known in the US and Europe as Bobby Boyd and Congress.
Returning from Europe Bobby has constantly pursued his goals. He got a lift from manager Jimmy Boyd who managed George Benson. Jimmy introduced him to George at his home recording studio in the Bronx. Out of this friendship George became Bobby's life long mentor. With George by his side he was introduced to other outstanding artists such as Ralph McDonald, Roberta Flack, Anthony Jackson, Steve Ferrone, and Earl Klugh. As the 70's came to a close Bobby performed wit Tony Sylvester and Cuba Gooding of Main Ingredient, Ecstasy, Passion & Pain.
Still going strong in the 80's Bobby was the opening act for the Kool Jazz Festival in the Meadowlands at Giant Stadium. You can now find him at some of New York's finest nightclubs and hotels.
The 90’s gave Bobby even more with the birth of his CD Entitle “Commitment”, His blend of Alto & Soprano saxes with his smooth vocals moving into a new area of music called “Smooth-Jazz and R&B.
